Building Blocks of a Successful Golf ShopBuilding Blocks of a Successful Golf Shop Design
If the goal is return on investment, then why do so many shops settle for doing it wrong from the beginning? Here are Barr Display's Golf Shop Design Tips on how to plan your space right from the beginning.

Traffic Flow
Create traffic patterns throughout your golf shop with display fixtures that force guests to walk by the merchandise and through the shop. Also, create visual interest in various locations to pull customers to all sections of the shop.

Colors/Finishes/Materials
Coordinate your golf shop colors and finishes with the rest of the clubhouse if applicable. Bring out colors in the flooring ontho the sales counter or other areas of the golf shop. The warmth and richness of wood can be achieved with hardwoods, veneers, or laminates depending on your budget and type of facility.

Flexibility
Use display fixtures that allow for maximum flexibility for both folded and hanging merchandise. Fabrics change and your display fixtures should too. Easily change display fixture accessories from shelves to hangvars and reverse. Be able to relocate display fixtures around the golf shop.

Merchandising
Use forms, props and visual displays to create focal points and give customers ideas on what to purchase. Merchandise by grouping colors and complimentary items together and keep POP displays on your sales counter to a minimum. Place high-margin, high-volume items at eye level and don't forget to add several layers to the visual landscape.

Functional Sales Counter
Evaluate your POS needs and understand a list of your hardware storage needs. Strategic placement of the counter is key. Customer convenient displays for balls, gloves and other items while at a minimum, can be included in the face of your counter. Clerk requirements for shelves, drawers, hanger bar, file drawers, etc need to be understood now.

Lighting
Provide directional lighting that hi-lights merchandise on the walls as well as the floor. Through proper merchandising techniques, you have created focal points with forms and props, accent these points with lighting.
